چکیده

An explicit formula is given for the quantity of entanglement in the output state of a beam splitter, given the squeezed vacuum states input in each mode. For the general Gaussian states input, the necessary and sufficient condition for the inseparability of the output state from a beam splitter is given.

Entangling the Whole by Beam Splitting a Part.

A beam splitter is a basic linear optical element appearing in many optics experiments and is frequently used as a continuous-variable entangler transforming a pair of input modes from a separable Gaussian state into an entangled state. However, a beam splitter is a passive operation that can create entanglement from Gaussian states only under certain conditions. One such condition is that the ...

Transport and Noise of Entangled Electrons

We consider a scattering set-up with an entangler and beam splitter where the current noise exhibits bunching behavior for electronic singlet states and antibunching behavior for triplet states. We show that the entanglement of two electrons in the double-dot can be detected in mesoscopic transport measurements. In the cotunneling regime the singlet and triplet states lead to phase-coherent cur...

Polarizing beam-splitter based on defective photonic crystals

The performance of a polarizing beam splitter based on the one-dimensional photonic crystals (1D-PCs), is theoretically investigated. The polarizing beam splitter consists of a symmetric stack of the low-index quarter-wave plates and the high-index half-wave plates with a central defect layer of air. The linear transmission properties of the polarizing beam splitter are numerically simulat...

Revealing interference by continuous variable discordant states.

In general, a pair of uncorrelated Gaussian states mixed in a beam splitter (BS) produces a correlated state at the output. However, when the inputs are identical Gaussian states the output state is equal to the input, and no correlations appear, as the interference had not taken place. On the other hand, since physical phenomena do have observable effects, and the BS is there, a question arise...

Lower bound for electron spin entanglement from beam splitter current correlations.

We determine a lower bound for the entanglement of formation of pairs of electron spins injected into a mesoscopic conductor. The bound can be expressed in terms of experimentally accessible quantities, the zero-frequency current correlators (shot noise power or cross correlators) after transmission through an electronic beam splitter and can be used to gain information about the entanglement f...
